Dogs are itchy, taking to vet, Paramite Dip question

We finally have a solution. The issue wasn't mites or parasites. We had been feeding Pedigree brands for years, guess they made a change somewhere to improve their bottom line. Three days into changing to our third food issue is resolved with SPORTMiX CANINEX grain free BEEFMEAL& Vegetables Formula we have stopped the itchies in all three dogs.

Thankfully it did not involve too much pain to find the solution. This dog food has no corn or soy the only grain in it is flaxseed. I should edit in a picture of the ingredients I swear it has krill, apples and blueberries or something like that! The downside is I will be spending $75/month on food vs. 40-45, but hey I saved that in follow up vet expenses and applications of K9 Advantix when not needed. Thank you everyone for your input and suggestions!

Taking my one of my three dogs in to the Vet's on Wednessday to get a skin scraping and I am suspecting some type of mite infestation. I'm not planning on shelling out oodles of cash to treat with Mitaban Dip (amitraz) at 50 dollars per 10 oz. With three 55-80 pound dogs to be treated that will run into the several 100s of dollars. We should already have them covered for sacrophytic mange as they get Heartguard+(generic monthly) and K9 Advantix every 2 months the Advantix is a therapeutic treatment and preventative for it.

My question is Prolate/Linatox-HD(for cattle/pigs) has been reported by several users to be inexpensive in treating their dogs safely and effectively. Others are reporting good success with Happy Jack Mange Medicine as well. Honestly, I am inclined to go with a lifetime supply of the Prolate/Linatox-HD for around 20 dollars. It isn't that I am cheap my vet is expensive as all get out and I am tired of spending $2-300 every other month or so on their maintenance.

Does anyone use and trust the generic Paramite dip?
I know this is an old thread, but maybe it will help somebody else. I've used Paramite dip for maybe 5 years, while working for a vet in the 1980-1985. We used it to dip dogs ONLY in for fleas and ticks. It was AMAZING! You bathe them first. Then mix up dip in a few gallons of water. Pour over dog for 5-10 minutes, and let drip dry. DO NOT RINSE. It is strong smelling but never made me sick like some pesticides do. We never used gloves back then either LMBO Don't use on puppies. On small dogs they sometimes get sleepy afterward, but I never had any reactions in thousands of dips I did for the vet.

They don't sell it for dogs anymore but I think it's marketed for swine. I bought another bottle when we moved to the country and the spot on products were not working. Got a kiddie pool and dipped all 6 dogs and no more ticks. I love it! I don't remember the amount to use but it's still on line somewhere.

I know this is an old thread but thought maybe somebody else would need the info.I haven't used Paramite for Mange, however, I worked for vets in the 1980s and this is what we used to dip dog for fleas and ticks and it really worked.

For mange now I'd use Advantage Multi. It;s a spot on HW protection but has been approved to treat ear mites and both types of mange. I've used it many times to treat mange. We usually bathe them too but it's the Advantage Multi that really kills it. I do a dose and then 2 weeks later a second dose. Usually it's gone in 4 weeks. If not you could give one more dose in 2 weeks. For regrowing hair quickly, a Veterinary Dermatologist taught me a trick. Give a 1-2 mg Melatonin pill every night. In dogs Melatonin regrows hair quickly! Most of my mange foster dogs for shelters are ready to be adopted in 30 days using the Advantage Multi and Melatonin. BTW You can Get Advantage Multi, made by Bayer, sold as Advocate in Europe. In Australia it is over the counter and you can order it from Vet Shop Max without a prescription.
