Dogs

Joining the dog pile fun.

This is Gypsy--we got her as a three year old from a shelter; she's six now. She was a mess when we got her, but she's come a long, long, way. Still flinches at things on sticks--like brooms or rakes--some stuff never really heals. But she trusts us completely.

We did a DNA test because the shelter said she was part herding dog (aussie) and we wanted to know if we should avoid Ivermectin (MDR1 mutation in herding dogs)--then found out she has zero aussie in her:

she's half Great Pyrenees, a quarter red heeler, and a quarter "working mix".
She doesn't know whether to guard us or herd us.

She's cute! I thought she would be younger than 6. Beautiful dog!

She is beautiful.

Maybe in agility but we havent started doing anything but jumps. She can jump about 2 and a half ft already.
Really. I'm not sure how high my dog jumps. I haven't tried her for a while. I think she did a tiny bit over 2 ft.

I think the highest jump they do in agility is 4 ft but im going to try to work her up to at least 5 ft.

Wow that's high! My dog is more into fetching so we are focusing on that right now. Well that and teaching her not to bother the chickens.

Ours knows how to fetch but she would rather play keep away with the toy. Dhe was good with the chicks when they were in the house not sure how she would do now though.
