Here is what I do know- this bird has never laid an egg
this bird has never crowed
I have never seen this bird mount any of my other hens
BUT here is the kicker-- my other hens are laying fertilized eggs

So.... large comb and waddles
no huge spurs on legs
and tail feathers are modest- there is a new curly feather showing I noticed
OH! I got him/her about two-ish months ago and was told SHE was over one year old then
she/he is the nicest bird we own

what are some things that will confirm that he is the rooster -- aside from the white spot on the eggs that are being laid and not being laid by him( and no other roosters anywhere near my hens) without seeing any signs of mounting?
When I got a new barred rock he did puff up his neck feathers and do a silly little fighting dance with her...

I say hen. The 'halo' or white spot on the yolk isnt always a sign of fertilized eggs. All birds will raise their hackle when there is a new bird, we have a few hens that always fight with new birds.

Agree - hen. Are your eggs really fertilized? If so, you must have a rooster elsewhere
