Thanks for your quick reply. I had found the reference you gave me. That's why I'm a little confused. From the head spot, I'm thinking roo, also. But the legs and feet look dark except for the top of the middle toe. Here's a pic:

I'd still guess roo, but keep in mind that sexing by phenotype this young is not 100%. It's usually pretty good with certain breeds (like the dom), but there will always be those who confound, confuse, and generally break the rules.

Yep, that's what I'm thinking, too. I'll just consider him a roo until he proves otherwise. Thanks again.

No problem, and don't know if it helps, but here's what our dom chick looked like when she was a squirt.

Definitely keep us posted on how your little chick grows up. Always interesting to see how they change.

So cute...her legs look like my chick's. But I can see that her head spot is small. My little chick's covers his entire head!!

I'll keep you posted. Thanks so much.

They're very similar. The dark areas aren't as widespread on mine, but are darker. Yours are lighter and more evenly distributed. On this particular characteristic, it's a toss up!

Now that I've studied both chicks again, I can see what you're talking about. I hope to learn lots more on this thread about Dominiques!

Are the other 2 chicks a Welsummer and a Black Australorp? I'm testing myself.
