Dominique Thread!

Good to see you putting some Doms in the show. It is an incredible feat these judges put on when selecting a BB and class champion. I am always in awe of their knowledge and experience. If you want to slow them down fill as many holes as possible with some good typed Dominiques to give them something to ponder over. I will always try to put in a display, or this time of year fill in with 4-5 pullets and cockerels. I have only been showing for a couple of years and have never been disappointed by a judges selection. Selecting birds with the standard takes all the guess work out of it. And staying with one breed is always the way to go for those of us that are new to the show. It is a fun and challenging hobby.

Staying with one breed is excellent advice-I've given it often but have never been able to follow it. My problem is I like them all [except Silkies] & am forever bringing something new home. If I cold just learn to stay away from Traders Row when I go to showa.

I have that lack discretion on my part covered. My wife dispensed to me only enough cash to pay for entry and food. She is aware of risk as well.

Wanted to share a picture my daughter took with those of you not on FB.

My two youngest pullets.

guess away!!

So they aren't pure Doms
My guess is based on surface area / length of flight feathers. American Dominiques have a locus or two that code for slow feather growth at least in chicks. Chicks pictured have fast growing, very fast based on length of tail. Tail is even longer than my American Games have. Do have a very long feathered rooster or hen running around?
