Dominique Thread!

Woo Hoo! :weee :ya

Candled the eggs in the test batch on sunday morning.......

88 % viability! Thats 23 out of 26. 23 chicks would more than triple last year's hatch in just one batch.

This batch should hatch on or about the 22nd of Feb. We are collecting this week for a local friend who wants two dozen fertile hatching eggs. The week after that we will collect for the next batch.!!! We didn't collect last week, as our temps were around -13 overnight, and daytime highs only got into the single + digits.

I am a month from start of egg collection. Egg freezing is only part of problem. Pasture will not be ready to support sustained foraging until late in April and 4 week old chicks can't handle the early spring cold snaps, especially with rain.

Hello all. I've been doing some research and have decided that Dominiques will be the next addition to our flock. Is there a resource to find some breeders? I'm coming up empty on finding some. Thanks for your help.

Most women get jewelry, candy, and flowers for Valentines day. I got flowers and pullets. Two of which are Dominique. I love their barred coloring with the green sheen. So I guess in a way they are little jewels.

These aren't the best pictures, but here they are.
