You guys, I don't know if you've seen this one before, I found it on the Poultry Press website images.

I don't know whose bird this is, but I wish the photo was bigger!!!

Just lost one of my dom hens to a predator (think it was a hawk or raptor) yesterday

We found her dead and half-eaten last night when we got home. I am devastated as we only had 4 chickens total (all Dominiques). Must have happened when they were out free-ranging and I feel horribly guilty.

You can see the pics where I posted it last night under "Predators and Pests" category.

Once the others that are left get over the shock of witnessing the trauma and return to normal behavior, I'd like to get two more to fill in the flock. Anyone in NC have some good stock near me?

Yes, I'm about 30 min. or so from Burlington. Just one county south of where Burlington is.

There's a show here on Sat. I entered these two. Chances are there will be no other Dominiques there, so I've heard. Oh well... This will be our first real show. I'm super excited about seeing all of the birds, and just seeing what it's all about... Don't laugh at my newbie training pens...

Critiques are welcome on these two. Check out the size of the wattles on the cockerel!

I have a DOM roo as my "donor"

Any idea what the chicks would look like or be when mating him with a White Leghorn, BO, or Black Sex-link??

He is ab 9mos old right now, so I'm assuming come spring/summer he will be busy....

I will try to get a picture of him soon..
