Dominique Thread!

Pics
Sorry to be redundant in the post above ! You all know the information that I posted. It is just that I get annoyed when hatcheries or breeders do not send the correct order ! But what can you do but keep trying. I do admire everyones efforts to produce the correct Dom flock and wish I had more space to do the same. Dominiques are are special breed.

Blessed and safe Thanksgiving Holiday to all.

That makes me laugh - 9th great granfather!

Well he is nice looking and has the comb that I so long for. Trim, not too big. Do you have a close up of his head?

Here it is...

Here is my first dom that made me fall in love with the breed- his/her name was Zipper. One of my favorite birds ever- just a lap doll - she was the sweetest, calmest, quietest, SWEETEST bird I have ever ever had.

I was not sure what she was when I got her, then I was not sure if she was a she or a he- but she was just wonderful. A raccoon took her right in front of me as I was chasing it and trying to run it off- city raccoons are the worst! They are not afraid of anything. Anyway, we still miss Zipper.

reading with my dad (who makes fun of me for babying my birds- so I made sure to snap a shot when he allowed Zipper up on his lap)

My new dom hen is also called Zipper

The kids named her. Her comb is goofey looking, it is nearly smooth, and compared to the pics you guys are sharing her tail looks funky-- BUT in her defense she had just hatched out and was rearing a nest of muscovy ducklings. She is the BEST mom, she has reared countless chicks for me. She has gone broody once (and hatched out the ducks too)- but She adopts chicks that she did not even broody, I have such a soft spot for maternal birds, and she just hears a chick cheep and she is on the job, she is wonderful- AND she is a sweetie too, and a good layer. I should take some new pics of her since she has molted and has not been mothering for a while, she looks much nicer now

Awww, thanks for the story! What a sweetheart! She loves babies so much, oh gosh that just warms my heart!

Your little girl is just precious, too. Doms can make such great pets.

Zipper # 1 was a big hen, with a big and interesting comb. What trauma that you actually saw the raccoon take her

. Yours is a story of tragedy and joy!

Say hello to Elmo, my eldest Voter strain cockerol. To me he looks like a feather covered box with legs. Males of his line were at one time considered top notch for show purposes but so far he appear butt ugly. He looks to be filling out at over 7 pounds as well.

Don't hurt that man's feelings. He's not butt ugly - he's nice.

About forty, at least 3 birds (most as trios) from seven stocks. Sample sizes I have from each stock not large enough to be considered repressentative of any stock except for possibly the Voter strain, no other Voter strain birds appear to exist outside my flock. I very much would like to be proven wrong.
