Dominique Thread!

Thanks!

I don't breed dominiques, but I do occasionally mix breeds. I completely agree with you, aggressiveness should definitely be kept out of the gene pool.
Oh no... or...

I do strongly think that aggressiveness should not be bred, or at least only bred carefully.

But I meant that he is not a good choice in regards to stance, form, tail set, leg color, or comb.

Oh, sorry, thought you meant his temperament. He's a hatchery roo, so I wouldn't expect him to be anywhere near show quality. I do like the look of the breed, though, even my poor quality roo.

It is harder to get a good show quality bird from a hatchery, but not impossible.

My old dom rooster is from a hatchery and he has truly the best temperament. His SOP points aren't too bad. Bad leg color, but good feather color and pattern, excellent body form/shape but a bit too heavy. He is heterozygous for rose comb, so a bit meaty up there with the head gear.... but overall nice.

I got 2 nice hatchery hens -- one has lighter silver coloring while the other has nicely aligned compact comb w/few ridges -- both have a nice U-shape stance and leaders/spikes. What a miracle it would be to have that all in ONE bird, eh? But I don't breed and so am happy my Dom girls came out better than I expected from Privett Hatchery chicks.
