Dominique Thread!

My one white egg layer is a Blue Andalusian. She's definitely the boss of my little flock and has no problem pushing the other girls around even though they outweigh her by 2 - 3 lbs already.

Those Mediterranean Class chickens are pretty tough for some of them being lighter-weight breeds (Ancona, Andalusian [once known as Blue Minorca], Sicilian Buttercup, Castilians [many of which aren't found in the USA], Catalana del Prat, Leghorn, Minorca, and White Faced Black Spanish). Aren't the "Blue" chicken varieties absolutely breathtaking? Here's our "Blue Ameraucana" and "Blue Breda" girls:

Blue Ameraucanas are so full and fluffy

The Blue Breda have no comb but have stunning blue feathering

A Blue Breda at 7 months - they have feathered feet, vulture hocks, and no comb - pesty friendly quirky little girls

Hey room! Happy belated4rth.

Fingers crossed guys=I may have a few Dominique chicks hatch next Monday. One or two cells look a little odd(i lost One of the vent plugs to incubator, so have been trying to keep humidity steady.).
If any one has a suggestion let me know please.

Keep them upright for both incubation and hatch...turn gently, amd hope. :fl

Also, I would read sally sunshine's asissted hatching 101 article here on BYC. Often catywompus aircells make it harder for the chicks to hatch.

I really like my BA. Not only is she fun, she's gorgeous.

FINALLY GOT MY FIRST EGG!!! I think it's from my Dominique, but it could also be from one of my Delaware's too. It's so little. We happened to have a Jumbo egg in the fridge so I added it for a size comparison. Little thing had such a thick shell, it took me 4 tries before it would crack. So happy with my girls right now!!

Congrats! First eggs are always exciting!

And don't worry, the size will increase with time. :D

Remember our Dominique, Bubbles the Amazing Psychic Chicken?

and her sidekick Trouble, the Sebright?

Well, here's my daughter's video report describing how she trains chickens:

Hello, I purchased a Dominique chick born May 4 from Concord Feed Store. At 11 weeks she started to crow and exhibits cockeral features. So unfortunately shes a he and my city does not allow roosters. I am hoping to rehome him with another BYCer. Willing to drive him 2 hours from Bay Area to new home. here he is modeling a no crow collar.
