Again not a good picture to make much decision on anything but here are a pullet and cockerel from @duluthralphie eggs. They are almost 8 weeks old I think. I'd have to go back and count on the calendar.

The cackle doms.. not great, not bad.

I like the male better than the female.

The last two...the way they are standing I can tell you close to nothing...except male and female.

I know I just wanted to throw them in there as we have them too. Being so young there is so much that will change. I have 2 cockerels and 5 pullets from ralphie. I am excited to see them grow.

I know some are curious about the Cackle Doms. I just so happen to have 3 of them from last year's Aug hatch. Here is the Rooster and then one of the hens. Not the greatest pictures but it will give you an idea. I really have no idea how they hold up to the standard.

Thanks for sharing pics. What is the rooster's temperament like?

He is calm. I have never had any of our roosters attack. He doesn't like to be caught but is calm once caught.

My techy DH was supposed to help me navigate but I couldn't wait and did my own experimenting. When he finally got around to helping me I had to help HIM! It takes some playing with the new quirks but I miss some of the old ways too. I miss my accumulated photo file from the old website because it took a long time finding them and liked having them right there to click on and re-post -- but now I have to search like crazy to find those old pics that people ask me for.

Yes I really miss my big photo album too. I enjoyed being able to "like" & add a comment. Neither change is a deal breaker. Just different.

The wording is new but many of the features are still there in some way. Overall, the biggest thing I enjoy is being able to talk chickens & share stories with people who understand.

ie- My dad's siblings came out from NJ to visit him. They are used to living on the shore, so I brought them some eggs from today & freshly baked bread as a Midwest treat. I even brought along some baby chicks for them to see. One person tried a tiny quail egg, but no one else would dare eat a egg that fresh - especially the blue-green ones. LOL Oh well. My dad & sister squirreled them away, so I know they won't be wasted. I suppose I could have teased them about how they collect & eat muscles that wash ashore or buy fresh fish right as it comes off a smelly boat, but I resisted.

Thank you for posting the pics. You must have some pretty cold weather as the birds look like they grew some extra underfluff to endure winter. You were wondering about the standard? If your Doms have irregular barring in silver and gray rather than the crisp even barring of Barred Rocks and if your Doms have a good U-shape back when photographed exactly in a side pose then you are a good way to standard. There are other things like leg color, comb and wattle size, etc, but to my personal taste I like the spike (leader) at the end of the rosecombs and the nice U-shape back when the Dom stands erect. The roo's have beautiful arched tail feathers that contribute to the beautiful U-back that I love too. Doms have beautiful personalities usually so I hope your 3 are sweeties too.

MoM... Those look a lot like my young ones too. I keep looking at them and thinking they should start to mature soon.

They should develop the nice U, the parents have them. One of the two roosters has the spike the other is more rounded.

Also of the two roosters I used one is a sweet luvable bird that loved being at the show and did not mind being in the show cage. The other is a jerk and fought me for weeks before I left him home. He would bite, peck, and scratch me for fun.

The one is a real gentlemen towards the gals the other abandons his to look for the exotic Easter Eggers. The one with the bad attitude WILL be going to a show this fall. If not he will be headed to dinner in late November. I have enough of his sons and nephews to not have to put up with him any longer.

The Mothers are all about the same, they have great personalities and good U shapes to them.


Here area couple pictures of the parents... The rooster is kind of weird so getting him to stand decent can be hard as you can see in the picture where he looks like a puffer Pigeon.

That picture was taken March 1st. So hopefully the fluff was just winter feathers and down...I hope!



Fluff or not, I like them.. That rooster received a note on the judges card. "perfect body type"......Before she nicked me for something stupid I did..LOL
