I have a full clutch of Dominique eggs in the incubator. Due to hatch March 27th!

That's exciting.

Nice incubator, too.
I bought the same one a couple years ago. It's my go-to incubator because I can set it up quickly and not fuss with it. Plus I like how small it is.

My first batch of Dominique’s for the year are hatching! I could end up with as many as 21 in this batch, when it’s all said and done.

I also have a broody momma on the nest. These should hatch in a couple of weeks.

The broody hen approach is a lot less work for me, when I have the space free.

That's a very good hatch!!!!

My seramas love to go broody. I usually time my incubator with their hatch. They sit on a few eggs then get about 30+chicks at hatch. (With seramas it's just easier to set up a big brooder and add a little mama hen.)

My one remaining Dom hen "Dana" almost 6 yrs old now had another case of Bumblefoot this Spring. First time she had Bumblefoot a few years back it was on both feet but this time only one foot pad had it and we treated her at home after the Vet told us how to treat it ourselves.

We're keeping Dana in-house with Triple Antibiotic Ointment and VetWrapped foot till the skin heals. There was bleeding that formed a scab and we're waiting for the skin to heal over and the scab to dissolve before she goes outdoors again.

I absolutely adore Doms and Silkies together because Doms are such a friendly social outgoing personality and very kind to our little Silkies. We lost one old Silkie hen last year and she dominated the 3 Dom pullets that we once had -- and when those Doms reached adulthood they protected that old Silkie hen from another aggressive bird in the flock and from a stray neighborhood cat that wandered into the yard!

Our Dana is such a people-friendly bird that when we took her to the Vet's office a couple years ago the entire staff came into the exam room to "oooo" and "awww" over her as she stood tall and proud of all the attention and petting. Doms seem to thrive on social interaction. At least the Doms we originally had were the best standard breed of chicken for outgoing gentle personalities. Blue Breda are a docile sweet breed but not as outgoing toward people as Doms. Doms are very smart, talkative, unafraid social creatures and have I said that I LOVE them?!
