OK! Went to American Livestock Breeds Conservancy and both the Pilgrim Buff were on the Critical list, where as the Toulouse was "recovering".

So, that helped me decide.

A pair of Buff at $14.30 each plus $1.25 each for sexing

A pair of Pilgrim at $14.30 each plus $1.25 each for sexing (or would they charge that since Pilgrims can be autosexed?)

$ 62.20(?) Plus my share of shipping

You know, I had wondered that myself about the pilgrims. I'll send an email to them and see what they say.

No, I have never had geese either.
I saw some at the Shepherdsville pre auction sale that Fr. Chuck And I went to, and wish I had gotten them,
So when I saw this thread I figured I better get em this time.
Thank you for doing this for all of us that want geese but not the amount of them that make up a min. order.
Kelly

Edited to add
Thats why I wanted the Buff,
1, They are on the critical list and
2, They are supposed to be a calmer breed

so, A pair of Buff at $14.30 each plus $1.25 each for sexing and my share of the shipping.

Thanks again.

Okay, I just called Metzer and for those breeds that are listed with the extra female you can only get one more female than a pair regardless of quantity ordered.

The sexing charge applies to all breeds, including the auto-sexing types like Pilgrims. So no matter what breed you order, if you want a pair, then you have to add that charge into your order total.

That brings my total to $31.10 plus my share of shipping charges.

This is an email I got from Ashley at metzer farms:
"The sexing charge is $1.35 this year and applies to all breeds. Some of the prices online have not yet been updated so I can send you a catalog if you would like or you can call me at 800-424-7755 so I can give you a total. If you order within the next week we should be able to ship them by the beginning of April or even the end of March."
So, it looks like we all need to add $.10 per bird to our orders, and I'll have to make the order date a bit sooner to ensure we get them when we want to! So, if there is anyone else that wants to join us, the new order date will be Wednesday, February 11, 2009 just to make sure we can get these babies the first of April!!

I did call but didn't get an answer, I don't know how FrChuckW got through, but I never seem to be able to! I'll update the prices post (#2).

I called the 800 #, but it could also be that I used to work for MaBell in California and know a few tricks about getting a call to go through!

I forgot to add that I did call and leave a message, and they are supposed to call back. So I'll get the current total for the order. Hopefully they will give me the prices of each breed! I probably should get a catalog too, but I doubt it would be here in time!

OK, with the new sexing price mine comes to $62.60.

Please PM and let me know where to send payment and my cut of the shipping costs.

Thank you so much for doing this!!

I'm a bit nervous about this. My 4 geese cost more than the 33 chicks I'm ordering!!
