It probably is depressed. Poor thing! These are flock animals & it’s all alone in a box. Why isn’t it with the mother hen & how soon can you get it some other chicks?

Also hanging a feather duster in there is superior to any stuffed toy.

So cute! Well we haven't hatched chicks and raised them ourselves, but I did once have to grab my chicken's chicks because she had gone up to sleep on a tree and expected the little tikes to follow... Yeah...
I made them a little nest with leaves, dried grass and pine needles and placed them in it; that made them sit eventually I guess they felt mom as holding them up from the sides... Not sure what they thought but they were happy and the next morning I gave them back, it was a sweet reunion . I think you should try it out, it might help
