Can you give mine a try? I have a black copper marans, an americauna (sp?) And a mix between a silkie and ???

Edit to add: I think they are about 8 weeks old? Could be closer to 9

They all look like pullets but I'm not so sure on the silkie mix...

Hi all!

We adopted the classroom chickens this spring and neither I (nor the teacher) knows what breeds they are!

I think they around 7 months old? No egg laying and the bigger one has taken to crowing but I don’t think it’s a roo. At least I hope not as Roos are not allowed in the city.

Looking forward to any insights on these girls!

Here are a few more pictures. I got them at the end of last summer from a 14 year old boy who was raising and breeding for a hobby and to make $ for the family (limited English Spanish speaker). He had common breeds I recognized and a few unusual ones that I did not. Some super beautiful ones he would not sell me because they were too "special". The golden one was not laying yet and so I was amazed when she laid pale olive eggs. As she matures she is fluffier and fluffier (buff orpington mixed with ?).
The grey has super interesting feather patterns and does resemble a dorking. Must be mixed with something that had a crest and lays a brown eggs (dorkings lay white?). She does not have the Dorking 5 toes though.


Here are better pics of the hens. I got them when they were pullets late last summer in Los Osos, CA from a 14 year old boy (Spanish speaking limited English). He had breeds I recognized and others that were gorgeous that I did not know. Some he would not sell because they were too "special." I had to return a third one because it was quite aggressive. The golden one is looking more and more like an orpington as she matures but she lays olive eggs! She is friendly and curious. The silver has dorking like feather patterns but has a small crest, 4 toes, and lays a beige egg. It is more timid and shy. What do you think?

They're probably mixes of mixes. You're right about the golden one; she's an orpington mix. The other I'm not so sure, though she could have some legbar in her.

All look like pullets so far. The marans is definitely a mix, could be a marans mix or maybe a partridge cochin mix.

First is a blue laced red wyandotte cockerel, second is a lavender d'uccle pullet.

Light brahmas have feathered legs and a pea comb. This chicken has clean legs and a rose comb.

I believe that is a red sex link pullet. There are some similar looking RSLs on this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/cinnamon-queen-thread.938674/.

Second and fourth pictures are cockerels. Do you want to know the breed?

Posted this one when he/she was 2 weeks old. Now it is 6 weeks old and I’m thinking cockerel brown leghorn. More pics bellow.

Next we have Cleo. Couldn’t tell what she was at 2 weeks, now 6 weeks. Her legs have turned green...so EE is my guess. Bailey is our other EE, is 1 week older but twice Cleo’s size!! I’d like to know what she may be mixed with as I like her coloring.

In this pic she is right next to Bailey.

You're right about both chicks. Hatchery EEs are usually a cross of EE x EE.

Hi all. Thanks for earlier input. I've got some pics of my little EE Pip at 8 weeks now. So far there's been one vote for pullet and one for cockerel. Tried to get pics of back, tail, neck and comb. That has me confused--I've read that pea combs on a male will have two or three distinct rows of peas. There are definitely 3 ridges on Pip's, but the center one is much larger than the rows on the sides. Of all my youngsters, this one is the boldest and most curious. Again, any input much appreciated.
