They look like female Leghorns. A chicken recognizes a dog as a predator and will be wary of them. That's about survival, not gender. In an all-female flock, you often see the alpha female display roosterly behaviors.I'm hoping both these are pullets but one of them went toe to toe with my pug this morning (the pugs are trained to leave the chickens alone and I was right there so watched the whole thing) - the chick got all defensive and aggressively began guarding the others. Makes me a little nervous that what I thought was a she may be a he.
