Could having a full length mirror have a similar but cheaper outcome @SarahLadd ?
Yeah. Record yourself lifting, too. If you position your camera correctly, you can go back and check to see if you are doing it right. When you're first getting started, it's important to get the motion correct. Do it without weights, with just your body weight or the bar. For instance, with the Deadlift, a major compound lift which everyone should know how to do if they want to have that svelte gym rat physique, the bar lifts parallel to the ground and perpendicular. Feet shoulder width apart, pick your grip (switch grip or both the same side), knees bent sightly before you pull. As you pull, the bar should lift in a straight line. Sometimes this means you're just barely clearing your shins. A lot of the time I end up dragging the bar up my shins. Your weight gets distributed to your heels. Activate your core to pull as you bring your body up to stand. Don't lock your knees. You may hold the bar for a moment before putting it down. You also may drop it, although I recommend reversing your descent for added punishment. If you see your video and the bar is moving around your knees and such, adjust your stance and center of balance.
