Double Yolk Eggs

How common is it to get double yolk eggs? My friend has a Rhode Island Red hen that lays a couple a week.

It usually does not happen often, but it can happen .
its not un-normal. if it happened every day, then i would be worring.

First off, Golden Sparrow... I love your avi... Just saying.

Second, the eggs... I have one hen who has the most tendency in my flock.. Out of the 5 double yolked eggs I have received, all 5 were laid by my Black Australorp. So... I dunno. I have had her a little under a year, I think... So not that often really..

Since you put your question in the incubating and hatching section, they aren't a good choice for incubating. There's not enough room inside the shell for 2 chicks to develop.
