Double yolkers

One of my sapphire gems has given us a couple monster double yolkers two days in a row now! My wife & I thought they was already laying some pretty big eggs, Man we was wrong. The first barely fit in a jumbo egg carton. Today’s unfortunately cracked when it hit the nest box floor though. Pretty excited as this is a first for us.

Double to triple yolks are common for young layers especially the first 2-3 months, my Sapphire Gems lays good extra large eggs, and their 8 months old which were a bonus aside of them being pretty and friendly chickens.

Ours are all around 5 months now. They just started laying about 4 weeks ago. Our sapphires have been pretty consistent giving us one a day & nice extra large sized. These last two we just can’t get over how big they are.

I get 2 - 3 each day that won't fit in a carton. I have 15 SG pullets. Need to get a scale to weigh the biggest.
