Ok, so I have 2 chickens who have each layed three double yolkers each in the 2 weeks they have been laying. Do you think it's just newbie laying issues or something that might continue? I hope it continues, but have read it can happen a lot when they first start.

We got 10 out of 11 double yolks...
Have been told that is what happens when they first start laying...
Also have heard of triple yolks...
I am just hoping it is something that they will continue to do...

It usually just happens with the newbys. What happens is the first egg is to slow and before the shell can produce on the first egg a second egg comes and they are both covered with the same shell.

That's what I figure, is that will stop. Didn't know if some chickens were just natural doublers.

Oh, wow. Well, I guess I will just get to see. I'm so chicken and egg obsessed right now. I love it! Others think I'm crazy. LOL

I've been getting double yolks from my barred rock for the last six mornings :) She is the only one of twelve laying~ I can't wait to go out and find half a dozen...
