Everyone is okay! I really hope Ice's eggs are good, they still haven't hatched. We opened the door to let Alto and Damsel out, and they wouldn't leave! I didn't make them leave cause I didn't want to scare them or make them do something they didn't want to do so we just left the door open and put treats right outside the door and didn't feed them so that the only food was outside the door. Well it kinda makes me happy that they love their pen so much, it makes me feel better about keeping them penned up! We greased the poles so that the raccoons can't climb up the roosts to get the peafowl. We should have thought of that sooner.

Alto would get right at the edge of the pen and stare out at freedom. Then he would walk away and peck around the pen or do something else in the pen. Damsel barely even stared out of the pen she just pretended like the door was shut.:rolleyes:My peafowl are so good!

Alto wouldn't even eat the treats outside of the door. At the end of the day we closed the door and fed them. Nobody wants to leave.

My dad is going to get up around 2 with his gun and patrol the pen and get his big light and look for any eyes.

Thanks Chickenzoo, I didn't realize that is your pied peacock picture, before I joined this forum I would sometimes look in the peafowl section and I saw that picture in one of the topics and I still have it in a document that has all my favorite peafowl photographs by people that I like to look at.

I hope that is okay. That has to be one of my favorite pied peafowl pictures because of the lighting on the peacock's face and the nice green background.

We just got back from shinning lights all around the pen and in the back to check for coons. We didn't see anything. Ice is on her nest, Damsel is on the lower perch (the lowest perch is around six feet) and Alto is on the newer perch over the hose. They sure are roosting alone...When Pip and Dragon were alive Alto always had to roost next to Pip and Dragon almost always had someone wanting to roost next to him. Ice would push Pip off the roost so she could get the best spot and Alto would then fly down to re-roost with Pip.

My peas took 6 weeks before they ventured more than 50 feet from their pen and the barn it was next to, now i never know where they are sometimes.

I didn't read all of the coments on your story so i don't know if u already know this. but i'm pretty sure it was a ratcoon that got him. we had one get a young canada of ours once

I read and i guess they have the tendancy to pull the heads through the fence and eat them (this is how we found the canada).

Yes we found out from some trail camera pictures that it was two big raccoons. I think the trail camera pictures are on the previous page.

I always liked racoons when i was little. when i got a little bit older and started raising birds they became my least favorite. I know it's kind of lazy for me to ask because i didn't read all the posts but it said pip died on the title! what happened?
