I'm separating my Cayuga's and will end up with 3 hens and a Drake.

I have 2 drakes one is a real fatty he is bigger than everyone and has very little color the other is slimmer and has beautiful colors.
The slim one i like walks more upright while tubby walks low and waddles.
They are both the same age about 4 to 5 months old

My question is will the smaller one be okay to keep for breeding??

Hubby seems to think the large one will be a better breeder

I however think he would be hard on the hens as he is a large one.
Will he have pretty colors like the slim one?

How about the slim one if he has pretty colors now will they get even better as he ages?? (you can tell i really like the slim one)

I will go on what you duck experts tell me.

I think it depends on what genes you want in your babies. They both sound good to me. I like things to be small and clean-lined though, so I would keep the smaller. BTW your topic line should say "Does" not "Doe's".

Anytime. I wouldnt have mentioned it except that from reading your subject I thought you had a doe goat named "Drake"

You need to wait longer for answers. Some people work in the day time and some have errands or other things to do.

Keep the healthiest one.

Oh yes Terrielacy i should think of that thanks for reminding me.

They are both the same health wise one is just bigger than the other.
Although the slim one can run faster than the big one.

I was just wondering if size mattered?

I like the slim one he has more color

If you like the slim one, I would keep the slim one!! It's all personal preference, especially if they're not going to be show ducks. If anything, the fat one may have more difficulty breeding.
