Hello
Alright here goes: four days ago (thurs) a stray dog got into my yard and killed two hens and a rooster. Injuried one duck. Bites to back and an ugly puncture wound on underside of leg. I cleaned the wounds and used blue koat. Daffy is and has been alert, talkative, eating and drinking. Its cold here at night so hes been inside this whole time. Ive let him sit in a bath so i could evaluate the damage better. Seems to have good range of motion. Nothing broken. Understandable doest like to put weight on it. He moves around and has even started like their version of biting my hand or arm. He calms down after he realizes it just me. So my issue right now is GREEN POOP. (I tried posting a pic hope it did.) Ive been reading this could be diet: Daffy has been eating lots of canned mixed veggies. Also alittle catfood and chicken scratch. Althoughi think he prefers the veggies. I hoping the poop is due to diet. But because of the attack im worried about an infection or as ive read its a stressed liver.
My country vet retired a few months back. Im looking for a vet that might be helpful however; im very low on cash. I did go to school as vet asst. So with alittle help i can afford some meds that might be avaible at a local feed store. We have a tractor supply close by. Based on a thread I was reading last night my poor Daffy might not last five days after the appearance of green poop. Today is day number two and Im willi g to spend my grocery money on any avaible med or vitamin supplement that might help corret this. The sooner the better. Last night I started giving water with save a chick mixed in. And I also have on hand poultry nurti drench that im gonna add to his food or water. The ducks adopted me after i saved three of them from heat exhaustion 2 years ago.
(This is the most recent poop today before 6am)
My concern for shock has passed. Now its more on some kind of internal infection or liver. Honestly i dont think he'll make it past Wed if everything ive been reading holds true. As of now my Daffy is the pic perfect patient. ANY ADVICE WOULD BE AWESOME. As for the stray dog everyday hes come back. Everyone outside is safely locked up and we set a trap for him. I might have even found the owner. I just need to catch the dog in their yard first. Animal control has been helping me. I do plan on pressing charges. Thanks in advance from Daffy and myself.
