Dream a little dream for me - now announcing my non-engagement!

What wonderful news! Congratulations!

Is the price of that house normal for your area?

Have you seen the inside, yet? I think house shopping is more fun than a wedding! Lots of exciting things for you!

Congrats on the engagement - my hubbie and I did basically the same thing and we've been married 21 years.

Now about that house - it's darling! But if you want to spend $250K on a house - come to North Texas - it will buy you a 3,800+ s.f. home on over 2 acres! I heard the northwest was pricey - ouch! However, I'm sure your weather is much cooler!

Southernbelle - that house is in a short sale and is considered a "good deal"!! If DF and I were in a better financial position, we might seriously consider it. The owner bought it 3 years ago for $273k. I bought my little 1100sf house 6 years ago for $130k. And I thought I was lucky.

Houses on small lots in my neighborhood - considered an inexpensive one for the local standards - run $150-$250k. Crazy, huh?

MysticScorpio82 - thanks for the suggestion. We're going to go super simple. It's really going to be a BBQ with a wedding, rather than a wedding with a BBQ. Here's where we're going to get married, in the big field: http://tinyurl.com/nz96kl. There's a picnic area you can rent right next to it, so we're going to throw a big party there - you can kind of see it through the trees here: http://tinyurl.com/n9cxrq. We looked at it last night, walked around, and picked places we liked for a ceremony. If it's raining, there's enough tree canopy to not be soaked.

My parents are selling their house in the Pacific Northwest (about 45 min away from Jenn) for $325 thousand!!!!!!! It is 2,100 square ft and 2 acres...its considered a steal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to you both! The house is adorable, after having .10 acres, you might get lost on 1.5 acres! I had to laugh at the listing "1.5 acres of land for your horses to roam wild."

More like chickens running wild!!! Good luck, sounds like a wonderful move, all around.
