Dreams of hatching... and THEY ARE!!!! page 7 pic heavy

You just made me cry and that's not nice. Unfortunately, it is a part of hatching chicks
sad.png

Congratulations on the chicks that hatched and are doing well.
One of my SSH eggs from Grace that was just pipped got squashed and killed this evening by a broody hen that heard them in the shell and decided she liked *those* eggs better than the ones she was setting on.
In the struggle over who'd get to set the pipping eggs --- that chick lost.
I know you 'shouldn't count your chicks before they hatch', but it's hard not to get emotionally invested in every egg while you tend them and wait.
Good luck!
Lisa

Thanks!

Hey Dipsy, who's parents are the NN? Do they have extra toes and fuzzy feet?

By the way, sorry to make you cry. Made me cry. Tried to hide that from DH but he could tell.

Yup, I have 3 of Velvet's 'girls'!
All 3 hatched on their own. And 2 of them waved a wing at us prior to hatching. Funniest thing I ever saw! Couldn't get a good pic through the bator lid, though.

They are a touch early. I actually expecte them tomorrow through Saturday!

Excellent! I'm happy you got a few out of this batch. They are really gorgeous colors. Like I always say, Time flies when it isn't your hatch, LOL. I only had skimmed your thread and didnt see Velvet's name at first. Cant believe they're here already! Hope they're all girls.

Well, it's been a long 3 days. Try to get some sleep. I hope that C is feeling better soon so she can enjoy the chicks to.

Oh gosh, they're all so cute!!
That looks exactly like some of the chicks from the blue-egger hen in the Naked Neck pen.

There is a blue clean-faced Ameraucana/Silkie/Naked Neck cross that decided that's her 'coop of choice'.
The roo in the pen is a frizzled naked neck /Silkie/ Cochin cross.
The chick might be a frizz or smooth, silkie feathered or regular feathered, and a green egg layer (it could have been dark-skinned or red-skinned, but that's determined already).
If I sent one of those, it's because I mismarked some eggs coming out of the coop (It was marked A, right?).

Lisa, I gotta tell you that Buzzy is looking cuter and cuter all the time. As she really fluffs up, she has this cute little pouf of fuzz on the lower part of her naked neck and she's a really pretty iron gray. And yes, she had an A written on the shell. My daughter wants to see what a frizzle looks like so maybe we'll get lucky. Does her neck need special care? The skin looks so dry to me...

Cynthia, I sure hope they are all girls, too. But if one is a roo I may already have a home for him. A friend wants a roo and remembers what a pretty blue orp roo we saw at the fair last fall!

Kim, have fun on the ski trip!!
