Dressed Carcass Picture Chart

That bottom one looks almost exactly like the Orpingtons I used to have. Tasty, but long bodies with pointy keel bones even when well padded with fat like this one. 2-3 pounds, very good on the grill when a little small -- split in half with teriyaki and pineapple sauce.

the top one was the necked neck and the bottom one came out full feathered.. mama was the cuckoo marans cross and daddy was a Nn that is half black australorp. so a good mix.

Looks like the Naked Neck has the better looking carcass. Sounds like they would have good layers, and nice meaty cockerels. Win/win!

thats the plan... actually this is a part of my DD's black Nn project... she has been working the last 2 years to breed decent black Nn. they are improving.

my guess was close the 2 slow growing broilers came in just over 2 pounds and the heritage ranged from 2 pounds 3 oz to 2 pounds 13 oz.... not terrible, decent looking carcasses. I think we are making progress
