I got 2 buff orpington chicks sexed as pullets 2 days ago, and just had a towel down in the living room and was letting the run around on the towel. I noticed that one of them had dried blood on the backs of its shoulders' and what looked like porqipine quills coming out of the dried blood.. my boyfriend said maybe they tried to cut their wings, so I called the people and talked to the wife (I bought the chicks off her husband) and asked her if they clip any of their birds wings, and explained what I saw on both of the chicks, she said that they don't and that it's most likely just the feathers coming in, but her husband deals with the chickens and he's not home. I explained that it was strange that these 2 chicks had it but my other two (that are not raised with these two yet due to age difference) never had this. Here's what I know for facts: The husband told me that he set the eggs on April 1st, I bought the 2 chicks on Wed 25th (2 days ago), I paid $10 for the 2 chicks and a bag of food (about 1-2 lbs), also their poops are kinda diareah-y, and the man gave me medicated feed, he said that the first bag he buys is medicated and then after that they get unmedicated feed. Also these chicks are a LOT more aggressive than my other 2 were (silver laced wyandottes) they actually bite and nip at me when I go to do anything with their brooder box or them, they look like my wyandottes did when they were right around a week old, their starting to get their feathers in including their tail feathers, one of them is a little smaller with slightly less feathers than the other but I wasn't given an exact hatch date on any of the chicks that they had to offer. Pretty much I'm kinda ****** that something may have been done to these chicks that I wasn't told about! What happened to my chicks?
