Dripping Poultry Nipples, the bane of my existence.

It could be a matter of them getting dirty and/or getting hard-water deposition around the sealing surface.

I have noticed that the nipples that are not used as much by my chickens are the ones that tend to leak. I believe it is due to them getting build-up deposited on them while not being used, and then, once used, the buildup does not fully align again and allows a leak.

Try soaking them in CLR or vinegar and water mixture.

Maybe?????

That's a good idea. But mine are brand new, so I don't think that is they're problem.

Hopefully it will help someone else with drippy nipples, though.

I bought the screw-in kind from a poultry store. Leaked around the pins also. I have 3 push-in style in a 5 gal bucket in the coop, no leaks.
I am a mechanic and installed the screw-ins perfectly! they leaked. no if and or butts. The push-in kind are great.

I ordered mine from eBay, plastic screw in ones and they drip at the pin too. So it sounds like push in are better? What about the all metal kind? So what are the best nipples to order and where from? I would love to know.

I'd love to know the answer, too!

I ordered 2 dozen from eBay, and have about 1/3 of them leaking... very frustrating! I switched to prevent water waste and mud in the pens!
