Hey everyone,
I have a magpie boy he is about 6 to 7 months old and I noticed in the last day his one wing is droopy. I’m wondering if it’s angel wing. But it doesn’t really go over his other feathers it just droops down. I am able to pick him up pull his wing out. He stretches his wings and flap on, and it tuck it under and then it just kind of falls down. He doesn’t seem to be in any pain. I’m just not sure what to do. But the main big feathers don’t overlap the little ones at all. He’s still eating and drinking and playing just fine. And they’ve been on the same diet since they were chicks and I give them the Purina water fall which is I think 16 or 18% protein. They get the occasional treats, mealworms, freeze dried berries, peas, and things like that. I also have in their food help supplement since we don’t get much sun where we’re at and nice and powder in their food.

I had a similar experience. I took mine to a vet and he found a small cut hidden under the feathers on the underside of the wing. So, examine that wing carefully. Mine needed antibiotics.
Hi! My ducks is looking pretty similar to this, and I wanted to ask how do you check under the wing, without causing pain or further damage?

I just noticed it yesterday, and I was trying to figure out what is wrong with my duck. Her wing looks similar to what is on the pictures, and it twitches from time to time.
She can cross it normally across her back if she’s excited, but when she’s relaxed, it goes back into that position.

How old is she? When they first get their wing feathers they sometimes let them droop because their muscles aren’t strong enough for the weight.

As for checking the wing, I would have one person hold her and the other do the exam. My vet did the exam for me though.

These are pictures from my boys injury. We never did know how he got the injury. Hope it helps.

Thank you for your reply and the pictures. I will try to examine her today. I just really didn’t want to do something that would injure her further, because I don’t know what it is yet.

She’s 2 years old.
