They actually busted that myth on a food science show i watched one time...
No way it could even happen.
I hope the guy got nailed...

He did.

I was proud of the professional way I just said, "ok" and repressed my eye-rolling and chortling.

I don't think that people should have to take a drug test for a job, I think it is ridiculous. I find it amusing how many people say "oh quit whining, and take the test" and then they go home get sloppy drunk and come in the next day hung over. It is such a double standard and most of the people who are naysayers are total hypocrites. I would much rather work beside someone who goes home and night and puffs on a bowl than someone who goes home at night and slugs down a 12 pack. Its a shame most people are brainwashed and find a simple plant as the "devil" yet they sell their soul to the almighty Brewery company LMAO!!! Hypocrites.

Yeah... thats a bit scary too...
I bet they got your sample messed up with another... scary...

I have no idea WHAT they did, as I made them redo all of the tests and most - but not all - of the redone test agreed with the first. Lol, definitely not the "pregnant" part.

I do think you should have the right to request a second test if you don't pass the first one. Likewise what bothers me is the idea that an employer could use the test to check for things that are none of their business, like what kind of prescription medications you take. For instance, if you take birth control pills or antidepressants or a whole host of things. Admittedly, some of those things might be legitimate medical concerns for some jobs.

I don't drink and don't do drugs, and yes I say quit whining and take the test. I would like to know how you know how the rest of us live? I personally have an issue with being called a hypocrite. This has been a civil conversation with no one being rude or pointing fingers until you.

Congratulations!!!!

Or if they mixed up some samples, there's a teenager out there who needs their menopause meds checked and is about to get a colonoscopy.

well i am for the legalization of marijuana because its on the same level with alcohol, and perhaps less bad than booze, which has a tendency to make ppl behave in violent ways. i can understand a drug test for meth, coke or other hard drugs like heroin. but i think that it's hypocritical to say booze yes, pot no. but all that aside, i think that ppl need to be responsible with their decisions and not come to work high or drunk. this is your job, you should be professional about it. and if management is worth anything then they will notice the good, productive employees and fire the slackers (be it slacking because they are lazy workers or because they are drunk/high), and you don't need a drug test to show who is actually WORKING while at work.

I never called you a hypocrite or anyone else on here for that matter; I am talking about my own personal experiences with hiring people and working along side them. I don't drink or do any drugs either so chill out. My experiences have been that most of the people who say these things are the same ones who go home and slug down a 12 pack. Lady, get a life.

I agree 100%. I think there should be random productivity tests; I can think of several now who would be fired.

Alcohol comes from plants, too.

I'm behind drug tests. I have no problem with taking them, I have no problem with expecting others to take them when their sobriety affects me, my family, my coworkers safety, etc. As for the comment about 'most' of the people being hypocrits, well, I disagree with you. Certainly you're wrong in my case. Alcoholism has killed enough of my family's past generations, I don't go there, but I still have to take the tests and do so without problem.

It does bring up this point, though: Even under your scenario where someone comes in hung over with alcohol still in their system.....in every job I've worked previously where we had drug tests, they would have been caught and disciplined just the same as any other substance abuser. Our policies CLEARLY said any drug, legal or not, while on the job was a no-no. I'm wondering how often jobs only go after illegal drugs while on duty? I've never had that experience, personally, ours always said ANY.

So I wonder what the argument becomes under that situation? (not asking you personally, just talking) I realize that not all companies have the policy, but they should, IMO, because a drunk person is just as dangerous as someone who snorts their lunch.

OK, I'm nosy. I admit it.

Now I want to know who's policy only says illegal drugs. Don't name company names, just wondering who here works somewhere with that policy. I've worked and volunteered in, let's see, 7 places that I can think of right off hand, that had drug test policies and they all said alcohol detected while on duty along with illegal drugs......so now I'm really curious.
