Dry membrane? Be patient or assist?

It's different with chickens. They go a lot faster than ducks. I've hatched both, and a chick stopping while zipping for three hours is never good.

I realized that...I'm used to Ducks and was not thinking Chicks..Although it might be resting?...

Still watching!! It’s started zipping back the other way. I see the beak now and it’s coming back through the pip and apparently gonna work the other way? It seems active so I’m gonna watch it for now! Thanks for all advice!

Give it time...as long as they can breathe I leave them alone.
Some zip out fast, others not so much.

Since it had been at least 6 hours I went ahead and assisted!! I peeled the shell, moistened the membrane and put it back in with a wet paper towel. Omg THAT was nerve wracking! This is how it looks now! Working on pushing its way out

Get some coconut oil....or use neosporin or other AB ointment(without pain relief ingredient), it will stay moist, unlike water that will likely dry back out again.

I JUST noticed I have coconut oil in my cabinet!!! Lol. Well, it’s turning out for the best so far! Almost out! Longest hatch EVER!
