Dubbing

FarmGirl: you dubbed too early, the comb was still growing

Imago: 6-7 months of age is usually when OEs are dubbed. Dub when the sickles have stopped growing and the comb is red and glossy. It has reached its peak at that point and won't grow any larger. OEs and American Games (small portion of the comb remains) are dubbed differently than Moderns (dubbed to the skull).

Dubbing is done for the safety of the bird. Game breeds are vicious and will rip each other's faces off if you don't. Removing the comb, wattles, and ear lobes leaves no tissue behind for the males to attack, minimizing injury. It is a quick procedure and they quickly forget about it. Without their combs, frostbite and infection due to injuries is not an issue.

I have nothing against dubbing if it is truly necessary, like with frostbite and resulting infection.

In less that five minutes after they are dubbed they have already forgot about it.

And to show OEGB's they have to be dubbed
