I am a huge fan of d' uccles, though I'm not able to find any around where I live

What region are you in? If you're in the U.S., Ideal Poultry will ship small orders, and they have D'uccles (AND BANTAM EASTER EGGERS )

somewhere on the east coast where you can easily get nights below 0 in winter . we prefer to get our chicks at TSC. their chicks are almost always properly sexed, and we are always there to get feed for our picky cinderellas, and our little puppies (and occasionally, our fat cat).
of course, that's not to say that there are not other good poultry breeders out there. I'm sure there are many companies that are even better that Hoover's Hatchery. That is just the company that we have the best egg gals from

TSC orders from various hatcheries, including Ideal. Bantams are unsexed because they either aren't color sex linked or they are just too fragile to vent sex. But TSC doesn't have their own hatchery.

I have picked some up from TSC, but they tend to need way more TLC.. they hire retail staff, many don't know how to handle the chicks in the best manner. But! It was just a suggestion since you mentioned not being able to find them. Most places require dozens as a minimum order, and Ideal will let you order i think 5-6.

As far as cold, D'uccles seem to prefer to cold over the heat.. well except my house raised ones

we order our chicks online. so much better for us to pick them up at a post office and play a game of follow the chirping

Well Chatty has decided she's gonna be top in the pecking order...I thought she was just bullying Coco (bantam cochin boy younger than her) but caught her in hair pulling fight with my favorite girl and older than her Lizzy! I noticed Chatty was even getting snotty with me...she'd peck me til she got a treat or whatever...
When did yalls d'uccles start laying? Mine are 6 months so wasn't sure if the hormones are ramping up or she's just a turd!

22 weeks and 24 weeks! They were hatched in May, which might affect the timing. Plus i was in a warm climate. And they were in the house

Well...one of the d'uccles has been playing soccer round the run with the fake egg I put in the nests box...so I figured they weren't ready yet...but then I saw how she did pulling Lizzy by the head like she wasn't 3 times her size n wondered lol!

Chatty and Cathy have much redder combs than Gabby does...Gabby has always looked pale...she is also the fluffiest and most stand of offish.
I think @kurby22 said that her d'uccles combs vary in redness like Chatty and Cathy's...one minute blood red then pink.
Gabby pretty much stays pale pink.

But have they popped up? Or still teenager style? It was almost immediately after their combs got full size that they started laying.
