D'uccle Thread

Grrr. My Porcelain pullet seems mighty sleeping and poofed up today! She's only been on the ground here for about a week, so my 1st guess is Cocci of course. She isn't showing any signs of a specific illness really, just tucking her head behind her wing and sleeping while she's standing, & looks a little puffed up. She is also doing that thing with her beak, that I've seen them all do occasionally, but she's doing it often. Only way I can explain is it looks like she is swallowing.

Oh dear best get her treated quickly
Hope she's ok

I started Corrid immediately. Just hoping it wasn't too late. Stupid Cocci! Hope I'm correct as to my inexperienced diagnosis also! :/

I would If I had any fertilised eggs lol!

Guess that would help. Lol I could send u a few eggs for just the cost of shipping if u really did want to let her hatch so she will stop setting eventually. Lol

My polish hen Gizmo does this quite often in the winter. I just bring her inside and warm her up end give her fresh food and water. When this happens I usually just hold her while she eats, drinks and warms up. It's an issue she has always had with cold weather.. nothing in the summer though. She is usually better within a few hours or overnight, but that's just my hen.. She just has problems with the cold.

I just had that happen with a 3-4 month old EE pullet, but no happy ending to report.  I'm treating them all for Cocci just in case.

Yes, I started Corrid immediately, and she seems great now. Idk if it was Cocci or no really, but just seemed really likely since she had only been on the ground here for about a week, & its been sooo wet and icky!

My 3 month old mille fleur pullet got cocci about a month ago. I couldn't find any corrid so I tried this:
dried milk
corn meal
oatmeal
bran

Not sure on the measurements I used. But it worked!

Do all Mille D'uccles make hilarious noises all the time and walk really funny? And sometimes pause with their foot in the air? XD Mine are my favorite birds!!!! They think they're way bigger than they are :)
