Just found this. Got a bunch of gold necks this spring. How early do they seem to start showing sex?

Hi! I love golden necks. D´Uccle overall can be sexed at a young age. Usually, 4 weeks but 6 weeks is more dependable.

Okay, so if I posted pics later tonight do you think you could help get an idea? I have one 8 week and I think 5 3 weeks but I'm seeing a few red combs already

Hi, I am reviving the D´Uccle chat!

I am a D´Uccle exhibitor. I have 3 Mille Fleur D´Uccle hens, 1 Silver Mille Fleurs D´Uccle hen, 1 Silver Mille Fleur D´Uccle rooster, and 1 Mottled D´Uccle hen. I have raised other varieties too. I love breeding D´Uccles with other breeds. My favorite mix is a D´Uccle x Serama! If you want to see pictures I have lots.

When I hatch my D’Uccles i can sex them immediately, if there’s a comb when they come out of the egg, it’s a cockerel. I’m not sure how accurate this would be with other lines, but our roosters have such massive combs that they’re visible upon hatching lol! Would love to see pics!!

Honestly it seems to be a bit of a crap-shoot for lack of a better term. It’s all about how you handle them and even then hormones can get the best of them sometimes (especially in spring), but d’Uccles are usually very sweet natured, if all else fails they’re tiny and can’t do too much damage lol.

My friend who has bred D´Uccles since his granddaddy says they are either little demons or sweeties.

My D´Uccle rooster is protective of his flock. He is small and can not do much damage. If you raise them well they are sweet roosters.

D´Uccles are easy to sex. The combs on four-week-old cockerels are very large!
