D'uccle Thread

NOT a silver-type babe.
Betting that's a 'wild child' type, or a black or blue mottled.

Very cute!

When are you going to hatch a lavender rooster so we can trade?

Chick #2 just out...sooo tiny. Much smaller than #1. Might need more eggs if I'm gonna get a Lav Roo...

I think these 2 are it for this hatch.

He's such a handsome guy! Love the pose!

My little munchkins are growing by leaps and bounds. They're 8 weeks old now. Beau can rest easy since the bossy blue barred cockerel has gone to a new home and the D'Uccles are left with only the Delaware pullet, Tasha, to contend with. She looks like a giant beside them. We have some warmer weather coming up in a week or so. That will be a good time to let Nugget and the kids out on range with the old ladies they'll be living with soon. I like all concerned to meet up when they all have good running room before putting them in a coop together. My old hens barely give newbies a glance these days, not unless one of them gets cheeky and goes beak to beak with them.

I know...sorry it's so easy to overdose! I've got d'uccles followed by a serama hatch. I might just end up in a sugar coma!

It's official. My hatch is over. I just candled the last remaining 2 eggs and they likely stopped developing a week or so ago. Apparently, when I candled before lockdown, I only saw the dark side....leading me to believe they had developed. The other side was completely clear.

Now I just need everyone's help determining color.

GC....of the eggs that hatched, one was large and darker brown, the other very small and almost white. The little yellow chick is so much smaller than the black one. Both have very cute fuzzy toes!!

Cynthia, I like your all brown girl best, so far. The others have too much black for my liking. But you'll still never know until they grow up! But in my birds, the pullets I keep usually look like your brown girl when they're young.

Carolyn, I'm sorry you didn't get more babies

I think your midget may be 1/2 sister to my midget

If you were coming to Newnan I'd make sure you didn't go home empty handed

Thanks Lori! I would be there, but I have to be in NJ that weekend.

Hopefully GC is ok. I haven't seen her post in a day or two. Not sure if she even knows about my hatch. Maybe she will know more about the midget baby. Did she comment on yours? They are both very cute. The black has really fluffy feet, the midget is missing some toe fluff due to the pecking of the black chick...sound familiar?

Hopefully you can make it down to the Dalton show in March. Good Luck in Newnan!!!!
