D'uccle Thread

Hope everyone is able to keep their birds cool & comfy, if you're in the hot zone this weekend!
I've been watering down the sand in their runs, have tarps covering the runs, and put a fan in one window to help the attic fan pull out hot air and create a breeze. We're at 104 now, and the inside of the coop is under 95 degrees. Not great, but it could be worse! The birds are panting, but alert. At sunset I will feed them some scraps that we're keeping in the fridge. A cool treat before they go to roost.

Got my Poultry Press today and saw my boy's photo in there, from the May 19th KY show. It's my biggest award, so far!!

I don't know how you get it but I want it! I'm going to try for mahogany with a paring of a black mottled with a mille roo with a lot of black next year, I'll let you know! If you figure it out, I'll buy some of each from you......

the lemon, i think, is a lighter version of the mille with the buff looking more yellow than buff so need one that lightnings the buff color up. the mahogany im thinking of using mille fleur's and out of each batch keeping the darkest ones and working with them or something that makes the buff/red darker than normal. granted the mahogany is such a deep dark red that it looks almost black....
