D'uccle Thread

Your porcelein is gorgeous!

Say I know were were chatting some genetics back a dozen or two pages... someone was just asking me what breeding woudl get you with a black mottled x mille or blue mille... would it just be a crazy mix? Would you only breed black mottled x black mottled?

well my 4 week old are going to be super friendly.. we just took them away from momma for the winter. She is starting to lose interest and left 3 of her 4 babies out of the nest box last night so I took them all in the garage with a heat lamp. So now the kids have easy access to them for the next few months until they are bigger! They are little, they will be fine in garage!
You get Black Mottled and Mille's, The three in my avatar and a Blue Mottled not shown are the parents to the pullets in my signature. I think they are awesome and a surprise in every hatch, I did have some Blue Mottled but it escape and a hawk got them. I will be separating by variety as soon as the pullets start to lay. Winter fun.

a) Could they just be really slow to come in? How old are the babies? Many of my lavs are almost fully mature before their middle toe feathers begin to come in.
b) Perfect parents do not equal perfect babies. That's why I tell people to breed what they have and keep the best of the chicks.
i'm not sure they had simmi good middle toe feathering when they hatched. they are 1-4 months old so not that old at all. i hope the toe feathering does get thicker. i have room to grow them out so thats no problem and most are pullets as well which i plan on keeping to help grow out other cockerels in the future.

i picked up a blue mille and will get pics of him asap. the person who got him was told he was 7 months old but he is a lot smaller than my 6 month olds so i'm guessing he is around 4-5 months instead. his blue is a lot better than my blue is, with him you can really tell he is a blue while mine from a distance looks like a reg mille but he is indeed a blue mille. hoping this new cockerel turns out well

Here is my little flock of Millies I have 3 roos and 2 hens. I really wish the roo in the first couple pics had a beard I really like his coloring. I am going to see what I get out of them next year and just work on improving them. I am hoping to find some show quality ones at the fall show

H Dowden,

How are the leg mites doing? Gone?
they are gone but the combo my parents and i used caused a lot of dirt on them that we couldn't wash off -__- but thats ok at least the mites are gone and were gone before the show.

on another note here are the 2 cockerels i got the white is a saltin mix though so he will be going into my mixed pen.

here's a link to the fair pics hope it works for everyone who doesn't have facebook

Nothing wrong with having a beautiful Booted Bantam instead of a d'Uccle! He could be crossed with d'Uccles and you'd get some nice babies.

Welcome to the thread!

Bummer...of the three babies we hatched four weeks ago, the neat yellow neck/ black mottle cross that is a cute goldy...appears to be a roo. My only sure one. We will see what the black mottled babies look like....here is hoping for the best...
