D'uccle Thread

Okay guys, im cross posting this from another topic

Okay guys i went through and updated the Duccle Breeder's Database (also in my signature)! and im sure many of you guys got PMs from me! Please check out the chart and make sure everything is accurate. If you have ANY suggestions i would definitely be open to hearing them! Also if you are not listed on it please PM me with your information and i would be more than willing to add you!

Also if you guys haven't checked out the Duccle Breeder's Database Thread located under Breeders and hatcheries it might be worth checking out. We've been discussing different breeding ideas, plans, and everything about breeding these wonderful birds!

Howdy! I am relatively new to chickens, but have fallen in love with Mille Fleur D'uccles and am hoping to become a serious breeder of them. At this point my d'uccle flock consists of one chick that I hatched 2 weeks ago, and 7 eggs in the bator from Tsagirl.

Here's my one baby (s/he is currently living with several silkie and silkie-mix chicks):

It's hard to see in the photo, but the chick has well-developed feathers on the legs and outer toes - and some sparse fluff starting to grow in on the middle toe - I am hoping this will turn into some nice feathers! It seemed like that was the case with the silkie chicks, which are one week older - outer toe feathers grew first and then middle toe feathers developed next. What do you all think?

I've been reading every time I get a chance about the breed standard, and looking at photos. I went to the local regional fair and stared at the d'uccles as long as my daughter would let me. When I can talk DH into it (right now my bator is full and I promised that was the last eggs I'll buy - ha ha

) - I will be looking to purchase eggs from some unrelated birds.

I have a couple chicks about the same age- bit older, but they are sharp little buggers! I wish someone could simplify genetics for me. Gosh I'm not to bright to catch on. I'm a show me type person.
The 2nd time we went to the Fryeburg Fair, I found this sweet porcelain rooster. $3! We should be getting a dozen of each, MF & Por and thought that he might make a good breeder down the road. Yes, counting my chicks before they hatch.

Could you folks show me what type of Breeding pens you have, I do not have any pens, I get a rooster, send him on his way when I'm done. Not sure if we should cull that severely or not.

Have a super day/night you all!

Hey, everybody! Not to hi-jack, but I am looking for 6 or so hatching eggs from Mille Fleur, Porcelain, or Golden Neck d'Uccles for my Father for his birthday in November. He loves bantams and has OEGB's and Silkies, but has fallen in love with d'Uccles. He has gotten into chickens since he has been diagnosed with skin cancer and the chickens help take some of the anxiety and stress of the chemo away. If you have some available, please PM me.

sorry to hear about that luv.

i have a mottled pullet that is still young and has not started laying yet, her name is Bella. i'd like to rehome her with my lavender boy Blue, he got that quasi silkie feathering so i was going to use him as a color project but i (and the dh) have decided that i have enough cockerels/roos right now and need to make space for the winter coop. Bella is a little skittish but will come looking for treats if you are hand feeding them-she is a hatchery girl. Blue is very sweet, calm and curious and will let you pick him up for a snuggle or petting-he is from a breeder. he has been living together with Bella, some hens and other roos and has not become dominant but will come running if he hears a girl in distress.

if you are interested in them let me know. i plan on attending the swap over in Bedford, NH on the 17th and can bring them with me. i can get a pic of them tonight too!

I went to my first show, bringing 4 of my porcelains. There were only three more d'uccles there being shown, but I was excited my birds took best of breeds in both of the shows. It was a double show, and we were there from 8 am to 5pm. Too long! But they don't release the birds till after awards. It's interesting how the judges have differing opinions. My pullets won BB and RB in the first show, and my cockerel won Bb in the second. Weird.

So I just got 2 Mille Fleur hens last week-end, and have a friend holding a Beautiful Mille pair for me, But I was wondering if anyone has any of the Blue Milles or self blue D'uccles? and I would also like to see some more adult porceleins if anyone has pics
Thanks,
Tyler
