Super nice looking. Tell ya what, I'll get a pic of him later, or tomorrow morning is better, and we will go from there. He is still a youngster.
Although I'm in heaven looking at that pullet! wow. These D's are making me glad that I have them!

I know someone in AK that has them and she says they do pretty well. She keeps them in during extreme weather, and they walk around on the snow with those natural snowshoes of theirs when she lets them out of the barn to play.

My daughter entered two of hers in the local fair against 12 other pairs. one Mille Fluer Cockeral and one Golden Neck (Splash) Pullet.

She got 3rd for her first show.

Our D'Uccles love the snow. They have a covered run and snow is still always blown in.
If they feel that it is to cold they stay indoors.
As long as they have thawed water and a draft free coop they are fine.
We ensure that the roosts are a 2x4 on with the 4 side up so the chest feathers cover the feet to prefent frost bite on them.
We also check them Daily / Weekly for frost bite on the combs.

This is the same way we treat all of our chickens.

over your porcelain D'. I hope the eggs I ordered come soon and my fingers crossed for their safe travel.

Thank you everyone on the snow bit. I assumed that due to their origin/beginning roots, and the feathered feet that they would do well and also another club member said they would be fine, but just double checking. At this point, they live in a insulated "hutch" floor space for the whole thing is 4'x8', heated water, feed in the main coop with 2x4, 4" down, was built for Cochins, they have moved into another hutch with same accommodations. During the real cold they have the ability to come and go into their house or come out into the run part that has shavings with back and front windows covered in thick clear plastic over hard ware cloth.
I think they will do fine!
We had hoped that where I didn't have a rooster a few weeks ago, that Scooter our B.Cochin roo & girls would co-habitate together, but the D's said nope, they stayed away from the cochins and the cochins felt the same! I always felt chicks like flocks, but not those two breeds.
I'm not worried about safety or warmth, they both have good draft free homes.

....and the 2 entered into the fair are nice! Great breeding!
