D'uccle Thread

those are LARGE wattles????? they are practicly non existant!!! as for their combs... i got them as day olds so im not too orried aboot it...
DW loves the way they look with their crooked combs! they are a breeding pair i am only breeding them to see if i can do it... the babies are goin to be given to class mates.... Large wattles?????

large by d'uccle standards the hen on the top is the best but if your not showing them or planning on breeding them for good quality chicks then go for it
although they arnt the best quality you still have a chance of getting really good chicks the lopsided combs are cute but not so much gor someone who shows . i personally think shows are a waste of time and dont show any animal for what it really is, but thats just my opinion. anyways there all good except those two faults so good luck with them unusaul that they are flighty mine are my friendliest chickens

we got them with 20 or more other chicks from ideal and due to their size we opted for bringing them inside.... they were picked on and we didnt want them to be killed by the other LF.... they stayed inside for aboot 2 1/2 - 3 months... he (Gomez) started crowing at 2mo.... when we let them out to free renge with the rest of the flock they desided to go to bed up in the tree!!! good thing we dont have a possum or coon problem! the Adams's are a hoot to watch! Gomez is very GAME!!! he has been so for quite a while! our minorca roo and he dont mingle too well! lol its funny to see them try to go at it for top dog of the yard! then the cochin comes in and tries to join in and they both tag team him!!! too funny!!!

heres my roo. his beard is small and his wattles are way to large for the breed (this discoloration is due to the sun)

this is what you really want the roos wattles to look like (he's only about 5 months in this pic though) but his beard is a bit small

i like the look of the blue one! yes i see how large the wattles are on him and how they should be! once again you have shown me the way! thanks HD! do you sell chicks or eggs?
also is it possible to breed out the wattles and crooked combs or are my babies pure walkin Gnomes?

it is possible but just getting better stock would probably work the best as it would take hatching a lot of chicks and doing a lot of growing out and culling but even then there is no grantee that chicks hatched after all that work wouldn't pop out with the defects. i don't sell at the moment but hope to either start selling some time next year or in 2014. i may have self blues next year but i am not sure on that yet.

yea i like the plainer colors! millie fleuer (sorry for the butchering) is a nice color pattern, but i like them less busy.... i like the porcilan color the most the self blues aer my oldest' easter present...

How are these two? Roo has tiny wattles, clear marking, tail is coming in better and better with the spangles on the feathers, good beard, upright position, feathers on middle toes, small size.....
Hen has foot feathers, tail dots, nice beard, short comb.........?
???? Thx.
