D'uccle Thread

I like the crazy colors too, and this one is pretty! I have a couple chicks that are going to be interesting because they will have some gold leakage. I hope they look pretty and not just "muddy". They are super friendly though, so even if they look funky I'll keep them:)
I'll put another picture of the little guy in a couple of weeks or whenever I see a change in him. I got a few fertile eggs from a breeder of mille-fleurs (no other colour d'Uccle), so I was assuming they would grow up to be normal little millies...but I got this one, a porcelaine one and a mille-fleur with a crooked beak (which I gave away), had another egg that did break through the shell and then 4 more eggs that weren't fertile. So to say I wasn't impressed with the eggs is an understatement...and to see this little chick grow up to be funky is not a surprise.
I just have chicken for the fun of it - I've hatched out a bunch of funky looking bird that people would say it's a disgrace that I mixed the breed...but it's just for my backyard...my pets and eggs layers

The more unique they are the better! The rooster (father) was a d'Uccle...can you tell, hehe. Now that's a cute beard! This one has feathered legs but not feet (stops higher up then the d'Uccle).

I am the happiest d'uccle owner in the nation right now.

I got a 100% hatch from my shipped eggs from mstricer and I can't say enough about these chicks. I have been watching them for hours and they get cuter by the minute. There were mottled and blue mille fleurs. I also has few of my own eggs in there to round out a nice dozen and they all hatched as well and gave me two seramas and a gorgeous silkie. I can't wait to see how these guys turn out.

My hat's off to you mstricer. Thank you for my new additions.

I am in need of solid black d'uccle with no other colors mixed in. I need them to improve on feather quality of my self blues as the feathers are not as nice as I would like them to be

Here are my new fave 3 babies... blue mille fleur d'uccle, mottled d'uccle, and my first silkie off my own birds.

The 100% hatch was 4 blue mille's, 5 mottled, 2 Seramas and the Silkie. 12/12 is my best hatch ever.

My solid blacks come from my splash girl. She throws all kinds of chicks. Solid black, splash, brown red, and some splash with gold mottling in them. You should Pm Laurie (wegotchickens) she has black i just dont know whether or not they came from a splash.

I currently have my black roo over my self-blues for the same reason; just wasn't happy with them.
Feather quality is good, and hen color is good, but the roosters just didn't have the color quality I am looking for.

After years of getting rid of roosters with feather ticking because they don't show well, I had an old-timer tell me that they bred the best color on roosters to show. Figures
