D'uccle Thread

Thanks everyone, and lunar I won't forget him.

Does anyone know any tricks to keep a rooster from crowing too early? I love my lil man but if he keeps crowing at 4am I will have to sell him. We are not allowed to keep roosters where I live but up until recently he hardly ever crowed and never before 8am so it wasn't a problem. Crowing at 4am is a whole different story.

Does anyone have pictures of the D'Uccle Grand champion from the Ohio National? The website for the show is not that great. Also, do any of you guys know anything about the owner? It looks like his name is Bill Patterson and I think he is from Michigan. I wonder what all he has and if he ships eggs. If not I may have to take a road trip, which is alright because Michigan has some pretty good beer so i can lure my husband along for the ride lol.

Oh I hope that is all it is! I really want to keep him. I also noticed that the plastic owl I keep outside to scare off hawks has fallen into the pool. Maybe the missing owl has also boosted his confidence. I'm going to have to fish it out and put it back up today.

What color was the champ ? I am from MI.. i have porcelain right now. I wish i could show my pair but my roo's comb never did go straight. Age? He is 2 and his tail has never looked better with the tips this molt! Sigh.

Early crowing can also mean something is lurking around the coop, too. Listen for owls, check the ground for prints, go out to be sure when it happens. Even a cat would be scary to your lil roo.

I do but I'm on my phone and it won't let me add pictures. He is a vet, I met him very nice man, I don't know if he sells eggs or birds. I talked to him about getting eggs and he said he had never shipped. From my understanding he hadn't showed in awhile I think his rose comb clean legged also won. His dUccle, I do believe is going in the ABA book. It was a beautiful bird. My picture isn't that good there was a lot of peeps trying to get a look. You can look for his email Addie on the Belgian page I think it may be there

Oooo. Thank you. Can you post a link to the belgian page? I can't wait to see this bird... here in MI we never get recognised for ANYTHING except the occasional crazy singer... so a double win!

Will you be posting pics of yours too? I bet that was a close one cause yours are stunning!

If he doesnt stop crowing you could always buy a decent sized bird cage. Catch him at night and voer it with a blanket. Then after 8am take the balnket off and lethim go run with the flock
