D'uccle Thread

Anyone here showing at the NE Poultry Congress on the 18th?

I picked this roo to show, I'm hoping to purchase a couple more Milles if there are some for sale:)

Not me, I'm out of vacation days until July. Are you showing any girls? Boys are hard to show, very hard to get standard. My new boy took 1st place amongst the cockerels at The Dixie classics and I am breeding him to my hen that took RB/BV. Hoping chicks turn out nice

Unfortunately I don't have any really nice girls at the moment. I lost my best hen the 1st or 2nd cold snap we had this year:( I have a couple more but there are some noticeable flaws. One being that they are almost 3 and have a bit too much white etc. another I have is maybe 4-5 months and doesn't have much spangling yet. I hope to expand my Mille flock this spring for sure:) love my D'uccles!

Hi everyone! I hope everyone's birds have done ok with the cold. I brought all my d'Uccles in - didn't want to take any chances.

Does anyone have a mille fleur pullet or hen (older is fine) that is show or breeding quality for sale or willing to trade? I have one male that I think looks pretty good, but keeps fighting with my other rooster. I'd like him to keep him with a female, but the only girls I have to put with him are his sisters. I lost the hen I was going to put with him earlier this winter.

I'd be happy to pay and trade some hatching eggs. I'm in Northwest Indiana and willing to travel a few hours. Thanks!

My mille female has started laying. She's from Michele (mstricer). My cockerel is a blue mottled - what kind of chicks would that make? I need to open a couple more eggs to see if they are fertile. I have a silkie cockerel but I think if anyone mated with her it would be the d'uccle.

Hello everyone, I figured this would be a good place to start posting some stuff since Belgium's are my favourites:

little bit of damage to his comb from the extreme frigid temperatures and that is becuase he always has to stay in the layer coop he refuses to go down with the other bantams! ( that live in insulated coops with my young layers and self produced broilers - so its very warm he is just stubborn)

two recently acquired hens about six months old, this will be their first season to lay. They were allegedly imported from belgium but i seen no proof to support this ( would kids lie to me like that? ). Anyway should be interesting to see how heritage they are and if they will be broody or not. I would love to have a hen with chick d'uccle's !

Your rooster is gorgeous! I like the pattern on your pullets too

Blue Mille, glad she is laying for you.

That is the perfect size rooster, breed him to a darker girl, he has way to much white, I suspect he is older.

I wish I could find darker hens, choice in Ontario is relatively limited. He is actually under a year old, just began crowing last September.
