D'uccle Thread

Well, I hate it that I couldn't help anyone with the New Year's hatch, but half my birds are molting (and molting HARD) and they others are apparently ticked off about the weather. Strangely enough, my millies were laying best. Very unusual for them! So I set some (more), of course.

My black d'Uccles are molting so badly that 3 of the 4 gals look like I crossed them with a porcupine. I really feel sorry for them, and have been closing the pop doors on really cold nights. My self-blues are starting to fill in again, and laid more eggs in the past couple of days than they did the past few weeks. The temps are crashing again later this week, so I'd say I can't ship any eggs until next year :(

For the person in NC who wanted self-blues: If you can make it to East TN, I can probably hook you up Jan/Feb with chicks in various age ranges. Or, I'll be in shows in Dalton & Newnan. GA during Jan & Feb. There will be East TN shows in April & May. Plus, Knoxville is hosting the ABA Nationals in December 2013!!
And the APA Nationals in 2014....

I have hatched some showgirls & silkies the past couple of weeks, but now have self-blues & millies pipping and peeping in the bator. I adore winter chicks, even if it's hard to keep them warm sometimes.

And, best news of all (for me) is that I have a new job!!!
I've been back in school since May 2011, and didn't expect to get a job so soon. But apparently I was the right person in the right place at the right time. I start work 1/2/13!!!

Congratulations on the job, Wegotchickens ! About the ABA Nationals...do you have to qualify to show, or can you just enter and show ?
You just enter it like any other show. It will just be a bigger show than usual because it will draw exhibitors from all over the US, and will have meets for most poultry breeds. It is already set as a d'Uccle Regional Meet ;)

And thanks! I'm really excited about the job.
