D'uccle Thread

Well, we visited the lit house to drop off another chick that they wanted, they came for 10 but we could only catch 9, and I decided to take two of my Millie's, one had too much black and the other had too much white, along... They will be absolutely spoiled rotten! They already have a Millie roo and a hen to go along with them. I wanted to make room for more varieties of d'Uccles. It breaks my heart but I made sure they would be taken care of well before I let them go.

Seriously! If anything happened to my little showmanship hen, oh, you don't know how distraught I would be.

It's the same way for me! I like all my chickens, but my showmanship D'uccle has a extra special place in my heart.
I feel like she's 1/2 chicken 1/2 puppy.

I thought I had lost her right before fair. She was sitting in the nest box with her head tucked under her breast and not moving. She looked stiff and didn't flinch when I called to her. I was scared to touch her so I did the next logical thing, I poked her with a stick. She puffed herself up so fast and started making angry "mama chicken" noises. Turns out she was just in super broody mode.

We're wondering if someone familiar with d'Uccles could help us out a bit. My daughter is narrowing down her extremely loud roosters for the fair, and we're wondering if one is a better show rooster than the other. We were going to take them both, but these bantams never stop crowing, and we need to make some decisions.

Maybe there are areas you see in these two (like color, markings, type, etc.) that can give us some ideas in how to determine the better of the two.

Thanks in advance!

They're both about 17 weeks old.

Neither have enough black in them. Make sure you put them down as cockerels when show. They haven't got their adult feathers and could change. d'Uccle roos can be reallly loud.l
