D'uccle Thread

We're wondering if someone familiar with d'Uccles could help us out a bit. My daughter is narrowing down her extremely loud roosters for the fair, and we're wondering if one is a better show rooster than the other. We were going to take them both, but these bantams never stop crowing, and we need to make some decisions.

Maybe there are areas you see in these two (like color, markings, type, etc.) that can give us some ideas in how to determine the better of the two.

Thanks in advance!

They're both about 17 weeks old.

I am not very fond of the tops type and feathers but the bottom one is lacking a lot of spangling

You can look in my signature i have a boy I havent shown yet, the picture is of him last year he has much better colors now and is small. I amgoing to show him layer this year

they are both cockerels and have a lot to grow in color wise. right now if you can enter both enter both as cockerels but you will really have to wait till almost a year old to see their over all coloring.

I am told this is a Mille fleur d'uccle rooster. Is this true? If so I am super new to chickens, are roosters nice? I am a little scared

Oh wow!!!!!!!! Thanks!!! Please, if you know, are you able to tell me if they are nice?  He is a little guy, are they small?

It really just depends on the roo. Most of my D'uccle roos have been EXTEREMLY sweet, but I did one that had just a bit of an attitude. D'uccles are pretty small, so they make excellent pets. Even the boys. :)

That makes sense! He is nice, loves to be with others, he is really small.... I was very worried @ 1st cuz he just didn't compare in size to the others! Thanks for your help!!!!! This helps bring me peace to know they are generally nice!

None of ours have been "mean", although we've had a few with an attitude. We have a really sweet guy right now that follows us around chattering. His only downfall is he sometimes will grab the skin on our hand and try to pull it off! LOL

I'd say the biggest problem with them is the constant crowing. Even that isn't a huge problem unless you have neighbor's you'd like to stay on good terms with.
