D'uccle Thread

My gold necks. These are Ideal stock and I was pretty impressed with foot feathering from them.

Are these all roos; or roo, hen, hen?

I ask because im trying to find comparrisons for my d'uccle. I thought she was a she, and I think she is about 2+ months.

I was afraid of that. I have 3 Roos in a coop with only 3 possible hens. All diff breeds. I am so distraught over having to part with my favorites.

I have 5 young but full roos - and a little puffing was all they did - I think this is a particularly easy going breed ! As long as they have enough room to kinda of not be right in the other's face, I think you would be ok - and then you can let them mature and really pick the best one for breeding.

I had two d'uccle males last winter and they wouldn't go out into the snow (I even shoveled the snow away 3 feet from the door to give them room to get under the raised coop). One day I think they must have gotten "cabin fever" because there was blood splattered all over the walls and one dead rooster. Since then, I've avoided having more than one male per coop (there was at the time 6 females also in the coop). The one that died was also the one that would flog my booted legs. The victor, a cockerel that was 4 months younger than the older, never did act badly. He was a nice boy.
