D'uccle Thread

I think Anira meant "My little girl..." to refer to the chicken, not her daughter. Anira picked the chick out. Correct?
Your daughter chose well! Your Mille fleur is beautiful!

My little girl that I picked out of a group of assorted SR banties at the feed store (along with my Cochin roo, who is in the second pic behind the Delaware pullet). I was pleasantly surprised to find out what she was. I'm waiting for her to start laying so I can eventually hatch some of her eggs.

I don't remember if anyone ever answered this or not but, does anyone know what colors I could possibly hatch out from self blue over a golden neck?
I was thinking porcelain? Am I wrong in that assumption?

I'm new to D'Uccles but I read on a hatchery site (Meyers I think) that porcelain is mille fluer with a dilute gene. Next spring I am getting porcelain hens to go with my mille fluer pair. Whatever you get I bet it'll be pretty.

Maybe it won't work keeping my Black Copper Marans and d'Uccles together this winter. lol It looks like they're forming mismatched pairs! She usually is tucked under his wing. It's hot today, so she just climbed on him.

you wont get any self blue colored chicks as it takes 2 copies of that gene to be expressed and the same for the mille pattern gene 2 copies needed.

as for coloring for sure i don't know i have not let the golden neck over a self blue to find out. i have had bad luck this year with chicks or i could tell you porcelain covered by golden neck but no chicks have lived after the massive 30+ loss i had earlier this year form a dog :( have no idea why either

How are Privett's D'uccles? I think I may order from Welp, and they come from Privett, (because they also have Dutch and Pyncheon bantams, which I want to try). Any of thier. D'uccle colors hardier, nicer, or better quality than others? They carry mille fleur, black mottled, porcelain, self blue, wgite and golden neck. I just want reasonably hardy, healthy d'uccles, with sweet personalities for pets, anddcent laying for a bantie.
