Thank for all that useful info. So back to the original question, the rooster is a mix, not a split, it will throw mystery colors.

There is no evidence the rooster is a mix and not a split.

Blue Mottled to Millefleur = ½ Black Mottled, ½ Blue Mottled
Pair F1 Blue Mottled to Millefleur = ¼ Black Mottled, ¼ Blue Mottled, ¼ Millefleur, ¼ Blue Millefleur
* May have problems with Mottled progeny having gold in neck hackles, etc, or too much black in neck hackles of Millefleur. The Mottled with gold in neck hackles are good for pairing back to Millefleur & Buff Columbian but not necessarily of Mottled show quality.

There are also a few pics on different threads of Blue mottled split to MF that look exactly like the OPs Roo.

My wife and I eecently bought a pair. Curious on how they lay.

For us okay, she has gone broody 4x.. She still has plenty of egg's to share with us.. Soon, very soon. Clair is 3 years old.. I will probably break her from being broody next time..

My D'uccles are holding up pretty well here in CT with zero degree temps.

I actually have a trio of Milles if anyone is interested. They're not quite SQ but not bad. Good bearding and foot feathering. 1 Roo 2 hens, between 1 1/2-2yrs old. PM me if interested.

If we decide to get more, we would want to hatch them out and hand raise them.. Or let a broody raise. I go out with fermented feed as a treat and they eat out of my hand.. Or I will go and get them from the mom at night and let our family play with them... We have a we roster, Burt..he is a isbar..

I have a rooster who is just like the one that is being debated and i can help out a bit with what he is and what he throws. Here he is:

I also have a Blue mottled rooster with no gold bleedthrough that was a result of the rooster in question with a black mottled hen . So, basically, genetics are confusing!! I would not have normally wanted to breed the rooster because of his weird mix of color, but I like his other qualities and his personality so much, i bred him anyway and am so glad I did. I'm breeding him again this spring!

My other chickens are pulling my Mille's Beards out their almost bald now where their beard should be.

Winter needs to hurry up and get over so i can seperate chickens.
